David Naranjo is a Chula Vista Police Detective Agent with over 10 years of experience in Law Enforcement and over four years of experience on the department’s UAS team. David had previously been one of the departments full-time Drone as First Responder (DFR) pilots, and now continues to assist DFR on a part-time basis as well as flying additional tactical deployments for the department. In addition to being a pilot, David was responsible for the department’s UAS equipment maintenance program for over a year and has assisted in running multiple monthly team trainings. 

David has his Part 107 license and has logged over 650 hours of flight time with over 2800 Department missions, which include tactical flights, search warrants/SWAT Missions, night flights, and Drone as a First Responder (DFR). In addition, David has handled multiple presentations to the public regarding the Chula Vista Police Department’s UAS program and has engaged in numerous speaking and teaching engagements.

David has completed The Regional Training Center’s Basic, Advanced, Nighttime, and NIST Train the Trainer UAS training courses. David obtained his Skydio professional operator certificates for the Skydio 2 and Skydio X2 in 2021. David has also completed an eight-hour drone assessment and response tactic course.
